Viocare is making a healthy impact on its own community of Princeton, New Jersey through a unique program which builds partnerships between health departments, community hospitals, food retailers, and residents.

Viocare's initial Health Portal was launched in 2002 as Lighten Up, Princeton. Funding was awarded to Viocare by the National Institutes of Health, Small Business Innovation Research Phase I grant to improve the dietary and physical activity patterns of communities. Due to the high level of community participation, new features have been added and the portal has been relaunched as PrincetonLivingWell.com.

The site includes means for participants to perform goal setting, evaluation and feedback. Affiliated activities include one-on-one support for participants, as well diverse group events to encourage physical activity.

Additional local health portals will be introduced with the goal to bring communities together in an integrated, supportive program to combat the growing problems of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
